When you go to a salon to get a hair cut do they wash your hair or do you have to pay extra?

im going to get my hair cut at a salon and was wondering if you have to pay extra to get it shampooed too? When you go to a salon to get a hair cut do they wash your hair or do you have to pay extra?
If ANY salon trys to charge for a shampoo walk out. It is not an extra. When you go to a salon to get a hair cut do they wash your hair or do you have to pay extra?
yah u have to pay extra. Usually its no more then 10 dollors tho and thats the highest.
Any decent place should wash your hair without charging extra.
no they always wash your hair. It makes us cut your hair better. when it is clean.......
Well, were I live the charge of a haircut includes the wash and style. Then again I am from Canada and that's how we do it here.
the shampooing doesn't cost extra. they will ask you if you want your hair washed.
depends what type of salon, usually you have to pay extra. If you can find an Aveda Institute in your area they will wash your hair and give you a smal neck message included in thje price of the hair cut.
they will always wash it and it's never really extra
if you go to a Salon they always wash your hair and at the end of cutting they will dry it and if you ask sometimes round brush it smooth. at a place like BoRics they generally don't wash.
yeah you have to pay more

  • How much does it cost to get long hair died at an ulta salon?

fifty but ulta salons aren't goodHow much does it cost to get long hair died at an ulta salon?
You want your hair ';colored'; %26amp; you don't want it to ';die.'; Call the salon %26amp; ask them what the cost is, based on the length of your hair. It will cost more but it's well worth it. After the color is applied, remember to keep it conditioned %26amp; get the ends trimmed every six weeks. When your hair grows out %26amp; you're ready for a ';retouch'; of color, you do not need to have the color pulled through to the ends each time. I would suggest that you have that done every two/three times you get your hair ';retouched with color. That way, your hair will not dry out so badly. How much does it cost to get long hair died at an ulta salon?
    55-65 dollars.

depends on what you want though.
    Too much to bother.
Long hair usually costs at least $100.00
Plan on a couple hundred dollars. Long hair is always more expensive than short or mid-length hair.

I must mention that what WE think of as short or mid-length is usually thought of as long to the stylist.

With long hair it is absolutely worth the cost.

Do Not f#$%26amp;ck w/ your hair. Pay for a professional to get the results you desire.

I am NOT a stylist, just a woman that has committed every hair--error possible.

How much will it cost to get my hair done white at a salon?

Well, it really depends on WHAT salon your planning to go to...like most places, it would cost about 30 dollars. I just got my hair dyed...now i have streaks

    I like Limelite. its cute.
Limelite soudns sooo cute %26lt;3 if you write it like this LiMELiTE on the logo it could be cute but it's really teenish so idk. Limelight could also be okay.

the color scheme sounds great! try some soft lime green walls + white furniture. if you're gonna have sofas in the waiting room for example maybe have them white with limegreen cushions? make sure you don't overdo it TOO much. experiment with different types of limegreen.

either way good luckk! hope it's a success[: x

Hair dye in a box or salon dyed hair?

I dyed my hair darker from a box a week ago, and then I went in the florida sun and it completely lightened it! I want it to be darker again so should I try dying it from box again? or would professional dye stay in longer when out in the sun a lot? I know it'll eventually get lighter so is it worth it to get it dyed at a salon or just do the box again? Thanks!Hair dye in a box or salon dyed hair?
There is a telephone number on the box of the product that you used to colour your hair. Phone that number and ask whether it was the sun that faded the colour or whether another reason was to blame. There may be buildup on your hair from products that you use or the box might be out dated, or some other reason. They will try to analyze the reason for the fading, will probably send you a new box of product, and will definitely be able to advise you on how to prevent fading from the strong sunshine. If you no longer have the box, just go back to the store and look for it on the boxes at the store.Hair dye in a box or salon dyed hair?
I use Perfect 10 haircolor, and am outside all the time, and it doesn't lighten up. I color mine dark brown, and it only takes 10 minutes. Before I color it though I don't put any products or wash my hair for a day or two, the color holds better.
I'd recommend a salon. It also depends on the type of dye your using.

  • Good hair salon for scene hair?

i really want to dye and cut my hair .. right now it is black and i used to have just under my bangs colored(blonde, pink, green, purple) ... i really need to find a good coloring salon for my hair. Any ideas?Good hair salon for scene hair?
    Why not colour it yourself.

Being 'scene' is about being in a scene, which originated from being 'original'which we all know that now it is a very common look, but really id say cut/colour it your self.

Noone can cut your hair like you can so it will be unique, %26amp; just do your own hair. Its cheaper %26amp; might turn out really good :)Good hair salon for scene hair?
It's really impossible for anyone to recommend a specific chain, because hair is cut by individual people, not robots. You really need to ask around and see what other people with scene cuts do. When i was in high school i know there were a lot of girls that did their own hair like that so maybe go up to one of them and ask who does their hair.
Yes. As a matter of fact, I know a good salon that you can get a great hairstyle and it is at a comparable price (not too cheap, but not too expensive). That salon is called Regis hair salon. You can usually find them in malls. They do good quality work for a decent price. Like they say, ';You get what you pay for.'; But in this case you get more for what you pay for.
    This is a tough question..

Im not really sure...maybe take a picture of how u want ur hair to a salon and show them what u want..

    maybe they can do it..

Use a volumizing shampoo, stay away from oils. Use a good conditioner, and try not to over process. If you blow your hair dry, use a volumizing moose, but do not put it on your scalp or roots, that will cause flatness as well.

Help hair disaster..should i use Salon Care Color Corrector before my app tomorrow with hair salon?

What do you think? It does not have any peroxide in it? Is it safe? I was thinking that way i could try to get rid of some of this color before app..or should i just wait until tomorrow? What do you think? It seems all salons just like to throw more color on and never want to really ';color correct';. Should i do it or just wait until tomorrow? I don't have the peroxide rinse just the phase 1 and phase 2 from Sallys Beauty Supply. Could this make my hair fall out or is it a good idea to help get rid of hair dye that the salon may not be able to do? What do you think? HELP!Help hair disaster..should i use Salon Care Color Corrector before my app tomorrow with hair salon?
I definantly think that you should wait until tomorrow. Call your stylist and ask if he/she will be willing to take some color out for you. I don't recommend doing it alone! Most salons can do about anything, but make sure you call ahead and make sure!

Good luck!Help hair disaster..should i use Salon Care Color Corrector before my app tomorrow with hair salon?
No, you shouldnt use anythng on your hair, at least in a 24 hour time frame. You dont want to have too many different products on the hair before your stylist do his/her application. You will get better results.
don't try to do it yourself-it will cost more when you go in. Be firm, and still listen, sometimes to go lighter and keep the hair in good condition may require a few visits. Get a redken chemistry to bring your ph level back to normal and get a good once a week conditioner because your hair will be dry. (i love redken silk fuel or rescue force depending on the damage) good luck.

The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name's originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.

The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.

Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a ';name party'; %26amp; have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free %26amp; a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending %26amp; registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names %26amp; yellow pages, so simply do a search for ';free domain name search'; and ';national yellowpages'; and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success %26amp; happiness in all your ventures!

  • Hi, I need a good hair salon that speaks English. We are stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Any input?

I went to my usual hair dresser and I don't know what happened but my hair is a total disaster. It is really short on one side, my bangs are too long, and the other side is too long. I'm pretty desperate bc we are PCSing soon and visiting my family. We haven't seen them in 3 yrs. I don't care for the hair salon on base bc my daughter got a really bad hair cut there. ';Thank You So Much';:Silverwolf2006Hi, I need a good hair salon that speaks English. We are stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Any input?
How about the hair salon in the New Sanno Hotel? Maybe go on a Sunday morning and make it a family trip and enjoy their Sunday buffet.

    ';From Yokosuka Naval Facility, walk to Shioiri Station. Take the red express Keihin Kyuko Line, get off at Shinagawa. Transfer to the JR Yamanote line (track#2). Get off at Ebisu and take west exit to the Hibiya subway line (track #2). Get on the last car and ride one stop to Hiroo (Exit #2).';

It's about an hour but I've been there and they gave me a good cut. The other options I can think of is another base in the area such as Atsugi or Yokota's base salon. If not the more expensive international hotel chains will have a salon with multi-lingual staff...however expensive hotels = expensive hair salons. The Intercontinental in Yokohama comes to mind. I do believe New Sanno salon would your best shot though.Hi, I need a good hair salon that speaks English. We are stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Any input?
How long have you been stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base, 3 years I suppose because you are about to PCS. Oh my! And you have not learned a few basic Japanese sentences. Well, good luck finding a salon out in the economy that speaks english.

Can I go to a salon to get my hair dyed and tell the stylist to use a box dye instead of her mixing up one?

here's the thing...my stylist is kinda old and she might not be hip to the color i want so if i tell her to use a box color i know i will be in the color range that i want. i have naturally black hair and i want to dye it darkest brown and use a #2 color hair weave. Can I go to a salon to get my hair dyed and tell the stylist to use a box dye instead of her mixing up one?
Last year, I got pink streaks in my hair, like Avril Lavigne. I was worried about the same thing you were. But the hairstylist came out with a bunch of mixed colors and pictures of how they would look on my color hair, and I got to pick the shade. That was at Changes salon. Just ask the stylist to show you the shade before she puts it in your hair. Don't ask her to use the box stuff. You can do that at home, and plus, it's rude. Best Wishes :)Can I go to a salon to get my hair dyed and tell the stylist to use a box dye instead of her mixing up one?
definitely. the hair stylists should do whatever you want, cuz its your hair. they should listen to you, and be flexible with whatever you want.
    get a new hairstylist.

especially if you are lightening your hair, you dont want to use a box dye.

You shouldn't go there at all
Definitely. The lady is providing you with her services and if you just leave behind $1 I think it is still better than none. People put in effort and time to complete this task successfully.
sure can. the person is supplying you with a service just as if you had gone to a salon

Yeah, why not? Shes running a business like all the other salons and if she does a good job then all the more reason to give her a tip.

  • How can i get more bussiness at my hair salon?

I think the overlooked obvious is honestly this:

People who use salons are vain, (we damn well all ought to be anyway) they want, they need, they have to have their hair done so they look better than Jane doe or Joe six-pack next door. To me I would demand the cleanest shop, the very best looking, well groomed, well dressed technicians who can communicate, talk about books and music and who's in town and concerts and sports with so much pride about who they are and where they are going that I would want it to rub off on me. Success resonates in a store! When I (as a customer) walk in and there is four year old dust or artificial plants, I walk out. If the tile floors are 1950, curtains are faded or torn, I walk out. If the windows are dirty or the sign is broken in front I don't walk in. Pride is relative in everything. If pride isn't in the obvious why should I let you do my hair or my nails? Pride certainly is not going to be in the work you do (on me) either. And another thing, the in the store atmosphere: be it the aroma therapy like the smell of chocolate, caramel or vanilla inside and the music that is classic foot tapping everyone knows all time chart topping hits instead of crap.

You grease the wheels change the curtains fix the problems scaring away customers and the doors will magically open all by themselves. How can i get more bussiness at my hair salon?
hand out flyers/coupons, at malls/colleges,hospitals, places where people have jobs and need to look professional- have a great haircut-cause people will judge your appearance/standards by how you look.

also you can try a web page/blog, and also network-join a Rotary club-members totally throw business at each otherHow can i get more bussiness at my hair salon?
To get more business, you need to hire a consultant. Now before you say, ';I don't have the money to do that';, call a couple of salon consulting firms and ask them for a consultation. They already know your salon is in trouble and they know the best possible ways to increase your business. They work with you all the way to success!
you can use flyers, etc. u could also get one of those yard signs to advertise a special. u could try something like a frequent vistor promo- that after so many hair cuts, they get one free, or a free product. u could do half price days or discount days- like 15% off perms all day wednesday (if u do that, use ur slowest day as a discount day. that way u won't have a whole lot of extra people on days ur already busy).... try different discounts, see which ones people respond more to, then implement it once or twice a month. talk to ur customers, see what kinds of 'treats' they reward/pamper themselves with and incorporate those into ur promos as well. hope this helps and good luck
To increase demand, this can be done in a number of ways, such as advertising through local means e.g. business directories, you could also promote a USP, that separates you from other businesses in the area, you could also reduce your prices and promote this to increase demand!!
Have a holiday special, make flyer's and pass out at schools, businesses or just hand them out around town
Do something funny in your advertisement, like offer a free onion with every haircut.

How much does hair color correction cost? I know it depends on the person and salon, but any experience?

I dyed my light blonde hair with a semi permanent dye to a light ugly brown. I made an appt to have it fixed, to a chocolate brown like I had intended. Well, it turned out black! I do not want to go back to the salon, the guy was bonkers. I am going for a consult today to have correction done, and I just want it to look natural, don't care how or what they do, brown is fine, black is not. Any price ranges? I want to know if this is going to be more than 200 bucks. Also, I have managed to have it fade a bit using dishsoap, head and sholders, olive oil, Tide and hairspray. Should I just carry on with that instead? It is still way too dark and my scalp feels kinda warm and tingly....

I had my hair dyed about 5 days ago.How much does hair color correction cost? I know it depends on the person and salon, but any experience?
if the salon jacked up your color THEY should fix it FREE.

if you jacked up your own color (i charge) $200 and hour plus the service ($75 for the color; $50 for a T hilite; $75 for a partial foil; $150 for a full foil ) plus a haircut ($20 with a chemical service; $45 without).

and i can almost guarantee you'll never color you hair yourself again. How much does hair color correction cost? I know it depends on the person and salon, but any experience?
I would go back to the salon and have someone else fix your hair, if it did not turn out the way you wanted it then it is the salons fault, not yours......it costs way to much to pay for their mistake, if you don't want to go back and ask them to fix it, I would call around to a few salons and she if they will give you any advice and how to fix it yourself....that always works for me...GOOD LUCK
Don't call up a salon and say you want a color correction. There is no reason to double-bill you or punish you for having been to another salon.

Just say you want it lightened up. They'll probably be able to throw in highlights to get you an overall lightened look. It may cost around $75 to $100 depending on the salon.

Be sure to deep condition your hair, try something like Aveda Damage Remedy. Some say Joico products are good to, so just see what you like and best of luck.

  • I dyed my hair myself last night & I hate it. How soon can I go to the salon to have a pro put highlights in?

My hair was supposed to turn out blonde, but it's a really unnatural looking strawberry blonde. It's gross. I haven't colored my hair in so long because I don't have the time and I don't want to spend the money to keep up with the roots. So, shame on me, I thought I'd do it at home.

I want to go to the salon, but I don't want them to have to strip this color out of my hair. I would like to put brown and blonde blonde highlights in with this color I have right now. Is it too soon to call for an appointment to get it colored again? Would it ruin my hair?I dyed my hair myself last night %26amp; I hate it. How soon can I go to the salon to have a pro put highlights in?
You didn't say what color your hair was when you started, but since it turned out a reddish color, I'm guessing it was brown. You can make an appointment now to get it fixed. Start using a deep conditioner to get your hair in better shape. This will also make the new color adhere better. The stylist could not ';strip'; this color out of your hair if it's lighter than your original hair color. Once you lighten your hair, it's permanent. Only product that's darker than your original color can be removed. Adding brown lowlights and blonde highlights to your strawberry colored hair might look ok, but only if you're not a conservative person and can pull this look off with your current occupation. However, think ahead to what you're going to have to do for touch -ups ( Color regrowth strawberry blonde, plus add 2 colors throughout... it will be a double process each time, which means it's definitely something a stylist should do, and could get pretty pricey.) You say you wanted to be blonde in the first place. Maybe some better options would be to have your stylist color you blonde, or to color you back to your natural color, then add a lot of blonde highlights.

Good luck.I dyed my hair myself last night %26amp; I hate it. How soon can I go to the salon to have a pro put highlights in?
I would go now they will know what to do without damaging your hair
You have two options, First, try mixing a little dish detergent in with your regular shampoo. Wash twice, then follow with deep conditioner. The strong cleaning agent in the detergent may strip out enough color to leave your hair a shade you can tolerate. If that does not suffice, you should go to the salon and have a pro work on your hair, rather than attempting further dye removal on your own. It's tricky (even for trained colorists) and may leave your hair hopelessly damaged if done improperly.

Tip: Many salons have ';training nights'; where color-correcting services are offered at a deep discount.
I would go as soon as possible tell them you thought you could do it but messed up big time they can give you highlights but you might wanna ask if they can jis dye your hair back its natural color then you wont have to worry about highlights and all that stuff too!
You are supposed to wait 6 weeks between colourings, but I'm not sure if that applies to highlighting too... I would call the salon and ask them, the professionals should know.
Nothing wrong with 'doing it yourself', I do it all the time. BUT, you have to do the strand test first, so you know what color you're getting. It's certainly not too soon to call. They may not be able to do it right away, but you can at least ask them what can be done about it.
2-3 weeks at the earliest but I suggest a month. in the meantime just put a rinse in it to mask the hideous color.
I think that if you only put in one color and you don't color it once a month or so then you should be okay going to the salon... they do multiple colors all the time and alot of times it's on top of fresh color. Just call your salon and see what their policy is. No salon should make you wait more than 2 weeks.
    Just do it.
You can go whenever you want to. It wont mess anything up and if you hate the color then get it changed back to your regular color.

    -The next Michael Jackson
I had this same problem last week. They said that it would be a good idea for you to buy a deep conditioner treatment, or reconstructing ';hair mask'; and put it in your hair for a few minutes - to repair some damage before you get it redyed. I did it. Actually i have bleached my hair twice, dyed it 2 times and highlighted it 2 times in the past 2 weeks. And thanks to the treatments I have put in my hair- my hair is damaged very little.
This is exactly why us hairstylists love home color kits. They very rarely turn out the way they're supposed to.

I don't know what your natural color is or whether you put the color all over, however this is called a color correction so be aware that this may actually cost you more than if you just went in for the highlights.

Call and book an appointment, you must tell the receptionist that you applied the home color kit and that it needs to be corrected so that she can book the appropriate time.

Your stylist will probably have to use bleach to remove the home color and then reapply the new colors.

This process may cause a little damage to your hair but with a deep conditioning treatment and proper maintance at home it will look healthy, beautiful and professionally done.

    Good luck

I had to go back to my beauty salon because part of my hair?

coloring was not done (by accident) in the front. I called the salon and the girl told me to come back in to have it redone by my stylist. On the phone she asked if I wanted it blown dry and I said yes due to the fact that it's cold outside. She made no mention of a fee for that. Usually there is a fee for a blow out but in this situation I had to go back because the coloring wasn't completed the first time. I had my coloring done and I was blown out. She charged me $30 for the blowout. I feel that I should not have been charged for the blow out due to the fact that I wouldn't have had to have the blow out done in the first place if the color was done correctly. Any ideas on this? Thanks.I had to go back to my beauty salon because part of my hair?
Its too late, and it's a lesson learned. You have to assert yourself in the moment that something occurs. Confrontation is not a fun thing, but it saves time and grief. I personally would not go back to the person, because they should be a professional and do the job right the first time.I had to go back to my beauty salon because part of my hair?
How redo's work at the salon I work at go like this. The thing that you are coming back in for should be free but anything additional isn't. The reson being is our time is our money. Now at my salon the blowouts are included in any haircut or color. It sounds like you go to a pretty upscale salon if just a blowdry is $30. Did she also style it out or just dry it? If it was just dried, that's maybe a little steep.
I agree, if it was done right in the first place you wouldn't of had to come back. I would go back and talk to the manager about this.
I would ask for my money back because it was not your fault that they did not finsh their job, and plus you are right you had to go back for them. And if they say no threaten to call your lawyer or something about the matter....i jus would not leave until i got my money....Good Luck

Is it worth its money? Can I still curl and straight the extensions?Should I buy the hairdo Salon Clip-In Hair from Jessica Simpson-19';L Layered Straight Extensions?
I have a few of them and I absolutely love them. You can't curl or straighten them. You have to get both if you want to wear your hair both ways. I think they are def worth the money. Just don't play with it to much ..... it will frizz out. But if you just put it in and don't mess with them they are fabulous. I have had the 23'; long on for over a year. I don't wear mine a ton but i do love when i wear them.

I think you will be happy....I actually just almost bought the 19'; but my hair is just a little longer than that already so it didn't work but it is super cute!!

  • I was wondering how the hair/beauty salon in Sears was. Has anyone tried it? What are the prices like?

Prices are steep , and the hair dressers are usually right out of school .Plus they do try and sell you products because that is what they re told to do . They have to sell a certain amount and they have a certain amount of time to do each service , say , 30 mins. for a cut and style . 2 hours for a perm , or color . I know many stylists who worked there and they weren't happy . Plus I had to do so many repairs , on clients who went there , the hair was a sloppy mess, because they were rushed .I was wondering how the hair/beauty salon in Sears was. Has anyone tried it? I wouldn't use a computer to keep track of the appointments, You can easily loose information, and your stylist would have to learn how to use the program...Get a appointment booklet type, It's much easier. Plus, If the power ever went out, You wouldn't be able to access anything.I was wonering if anyone new a good computer program to use in a hair salon to make appointments and stuff.?
I would recommend Microsoft Works Suite 2005. Included is a daily calendar where you can log appointments. It also includes Microsoft Money which is an easy way to handle day to day finances. Word is included and you have spreadsheet applications. It's easy to install and easy to use.

  • If you get your hair colored at a salon and then you want to color it urself do you have to use the same brand?

I got my hair colored at a salon about 3 months ago and now my roots are growing in and it makes my hair look oily so i want to dye my hair again with my own dye that i bought at the store but my mom says you have to use the same brand, is that true?

If you get your hair colored at a salon and then you want to color it urself do you have to use the same brand?
If you had showed the color that you got done a few months ago in your question here someone might have been able to make a suggestion.

They make conversion charts... when someone comes in my salon and lets say they just move here and they tell me what they had been using or have been having done at another salon... I have charts that tell you that if you used ???? you can use ???? and get the same results... so your mom is wrong.

hope this helped;-)))If you get your hair colored at a salon and then you want to color it urself do you have to use the same brand?
No, As long as you can match the color..Besides most likely..You won't be able to get the brand they use, in any store.

Hair Salon Question. Am I wrong about this?

I had an appointment to get my hair done. Color, cut, style, etc.

When I got to the salon (on time), my stylist was working on 2 other people. I was going to have to wait about 30-40 minutes for her to get done. The salon takes walk-ins as well as appointments. She has had me wait before, but this was the final straw. I am really frustrated. I think the wait time was unreasonable for someone with an appointment. Am I being unrealistic?Hair Salon Question. Am I wrong about this?
NO!!! Appointment means a specified time, not ';When I can get around to it.'; That kind of operation can't lead to anything good, especially if they're not even apologetic. Try to find another salon that respects your time, or even better a friend who does it out of their house!Hair Salon Question. Am I wrong about this?
That pretty much dissolves the point of making an appointment. When you and your stylist decide a time for you to walk into the salon, she should be ready. You are not being unrealistic. If I were you, I'd go to a different hairstylist.
it goes both ways. ive had that experience before. i had to wait an hour with an appointment and it was pissin me off that i had to wait such a long time. so that is not being wrong. on the other hand the hair dresser cant tell exactly what time she would be done on hair so its really on how much time that particular hair stylist has on her hands
I guess the stylist thought you had nothing better to do but to watch her do everyone else's hair but yours. Unless you REALLY REALLY like her, I would have walked out. That was not cool to do that. I say leave, or don't go if you really like her.
    yes they shouldn't do that
well not really, that happens a lot, but may-b your hairdresser just has lots of appointments.
Seems bad for sure ,but mine takes the cake.had an appointment, made it a month in advance for a day on my vacation, and she called to cancel a day before because she wanted to take a lunch break that day...weird...(I have not got any lice or dandruff,etc,either...)..to make matters worse..I had a relative in the hospital and really never found another minute to get my hair cut still.. ever since....Bon apetite(sp) cant find it on spell check, must be the french language thingy...
I think to have everything done to your satisfaction it may have seemed like a lifetime but the people that walked in may have required more than just a cut.

If you are not happy, even though it might be hard I might start looking for a new salon or hairdresser.

Have you ever noticed that doctors and appointments are the same way?

Maybe your hairdresser was overbooked that day.

In case my hairdresser is running behind I always bring a book. Good luck if you decide to find a new hairdresser.
You should find another stylist who thinks you time is as important as hers, she wouldn't like it if she was ready for you and you were 30 mins late they may even not let you book another app you should treat them like they treat you
Its understandable if they have to make you wait occasionally, but not every time. Alot of times when the appointments are booked for hair coloring, and then the client comes in and decides they want a full head of foils, it can take longer then originally expected and cause them to go longer then what was booked. There are alot of factors that can be out of the stylists control that can cause her to get behind. But some stylists double book themselves to fit more clients in, and then they can get really behind. If it happens to often its probably better to find a different stylist. But if a stylist has alot of clients, its probably because she is good at doing hair. I go to my stylists house, that way she can take her time with me, and I can pay her outright instead of paying the salon. I found that going to a stylist that rents her chair is better. They don't have a manager forcing them to take walk-ins when they really shouldn't. And they get the entire sale from me instead of what ever corporation they are working for.
Normally I have to wait about 10 - 15minutes. 30 -40 is way too long. They shoudn't let someone walk in if your coming soon. That's crummy. They should like call you or something to let you know they are running late just like you would do if you were running late.

Do you have to go to a salon to strip black hair?

or can I use something at home from like the beauty supply store? Do you have to go to a salon to strip black hair?
I say this from expierence ....please go to a salon....everybody's hair is different and it can have a different outcome... what worked on one person s hair may not be the results for yours i learned that the hard way lolDo you have to go to a salon to strip black hair?
I wouldn't attempt something like that on your own. You can lose some hair if you don't know what your doing. You have to basically bleach your hair and dye it another color. It's a huge pain! I would go and get someone to do it for you. I had to do it a few times.
I've done it in the past (more than once). They have stuff at like Sally's. They even have hair stripper at Wal-Mart. I would say go to a beauty supply store like Sally's though - they have higher quality products and they're more effective.
No. you can buy a hair color remover kit from a drug store.

i have put a remover kit on my hair once when it was black and it caused it to be like straw but you can do what you want. :)

    Good luck!

They do have that type of thing at beauty supply stores, but I would recommend going to a salon for that process. Too many things can go wrong - you could end up making your hair fall out.
You def. want to go to a salon for that...I dont think theres anything at Beauty supply for people to do this at home anyways

I still go to a barbershop. It's the old-fashioned kind where they shave the back of your neck with a straight razor and use the hand held massager on your shoulders.I suppose it's as much for the nostalgia as anything else, even though I think that they do a great job on the cut itself. So I'll give a shout out to Mid-town Barbers in Michigan City,Indiana.Guys, do you still go to a barber shop to get your hair cut, or do you go to a beauty salon?

i go to the beauty shop because my mom want a girl and i have long hair
I shave mine so I do it at home why pay someone else to do it?
My father goes to the barber shops too.
I cut my hubbys here at home.
a barber shop with one chair and one old guy...thats how it should always be
A man goes to a barber. A half a man goes to a beauty salon. Period.
i have gone to both barber shops and beauty parlors and have gotten good quality haircuts at both places.
    I still prefer barber shops.
I'm a girl! And no don't go to the beauty salon, whatever you do! You'll look like a phaget! For u the barber shop is the place to be!
i dont go to either place.i cut my own hair, whats left of it.

I have dark brown hair with blonde highlights, how do i get ride of them without going to a salon?

i have dark dark brown hair with orange sorta gold blonde highlights but i dont like it. if i go out and buy a box hair dye thats dark brown again will it get rid of them or just make everything worse? please help me!I have dark brown hair with blonde highlights, how do i get ride of them without going to a salon?
stop, go to a colorist, get it done right the first time. its cheaper than redoing it

make sure you see someone that is trained in color, majirel, schwartzkof, goldwell.

stay away from, redken, matrix, aveda.

there tend to be in cheaper salons and not greatly trained. of course there are exceptions to these rules. go to Saks, look at some girls hair that works there, and ask where do you go?I have dark brown hair with blonde highlights, how do i get ride of them without going to a salon?
find a color as close as possible to your natural color the highlights will still come through as the color fades but its better than living with hair you hate- been there good luck
Good luck .Sounds good but be sure to select 1 shades lighter than your natural color as the box colors always come out darker than what is on the box. After 6 weeks . . or so many washes the color will start to fade and you will need to repeat the process until your highlights have grown out or been cut off.
Buy a light brown box color. When you put highlights in, the bleach lifts the color to lighten it. You have to put color back on the blond if you want to get rid of it.

You might also want to go to a colorist to see of they can tone the blond. The can put a toner on that will make it less brassy.
The boxed hair color will probably make things worse. It will not only darken the highlights, but also your base color so it would be best to either grow them out or go to a salon and see what they could do if you really don't like them.
You'll be okay following that plan. I'm a senior and have gray around my temples and sides, so the box dyes tend to give me a lighter shade there, but it looks good, it looks like natural variations. One recommendation - the permanent dyes really bother my scalp, and the wash-in's last quite awhile, don't irritate the scalp. I much prefer a Clairol product called Natural Instincts. When and if you get it watch for a coupon good on future purchases; it will be on the instructions sheet. Good luck!
should work fine and if you decide to go blonde again try picking a ash blonde coloring helps to pull the red out of naturally dark hair kinda learned that the hard way lol

  • What is the formula for removing ';iron/rust'; buildup from blonde/white hair? Cannot spend an hour in a salon,

but have been told by beauticians that they could do it. Please help. What is the formula for removing ';iron/rust'; buildup from blonde/white hair? Cannot spend an hour in a salon,
Iron/rust buildup? Can't say that I've ever heard of that, but if you're referring to your hair color turning brassy/yellow-y, that's easy to fix.

Simply buy a purple-hued toner at a beauty supply shop and tone your hair. The purple will counteract the yellow in your hair and make it look more platinum/icy.

When you go to the salon and ask for permanant wavy hair, how do they do it?

And I am wondering if it will really ruin my hair.. Or will it be fine if I just treat my hair right with using the right shampoos and stuff.. I want to know what the whole process is also (do they curl your hair how you want it and then put chemicals in it to make it permanant..) And can I still have my bangs straight after the perm? Or do I have to straighten it everyday. ThanksWhen you go to the salon and ask for permanant wavy hair, how do they do it?
They basically will be giving you a perm - the wavy curl will come from a bigger rod and a perm solution.

It is damaging but treat your hair well before and after the process and you should be fine - but only use professional products to moisturize and treat.

Yes for sure you can straighten your hair any time after the process.

How long will I be at the Salon for if I have them take out all the color that has been in my hair?

It took about ab hour and a half when I got it done

As with any personal business like this, it all depends on the operators. Some are trained better than others, some have talent, some take time to do a good job. Some do as many clients as possible in a day, because clients mean more pay.

As to prices, when I was working at Regis, my clients paid $14.98 for a cut. How times have changed!! I think I should go back if I can get $75 for them now! You don't always get what you pay for. You should have a consultation with the stylist first so you both understand what it is you want. Trying to do this at the time of the appointment means loss of profit for them, and may have to charge you more. Take in pics of the exact thing you want (not something close to, or almost, or sorta like) so that you both understand what it is you want. Mis-communication is the main reason for not getting what you expected.Anyone Ever been to a Regis Hair Salon?
Expensive. I now go to my stylist and she charged me 75 for a cut style and dye. Regis cut my hair for 35 and they didn't even style it. so i don' go there anymore. that was a one time deal for me. as for the quality i cant really tell you unless you got the same stylist i did. which she was kind of rude. but ya.
Thats were I get my hair cut and just for a cut its pretty cheap! Im not sure how much it is to get it colored! my dad gets his hair colored there and I dont think it that expensive !
    yeah, they are good.

it cost like $125 dollars for them to cut and highlight my hair.
I just had my highlights done there on Thursday for $75. They did a great job.

try to think of something that means a lot to you and the people that you share the salon with, something comical or a name that'd attract the public attention :) for example, for the smaller kids here in town there's a salon called Cookie Cutters
Nothing to work with here? I mean, come on. Give us some ideas to work with. It should be something that fits your personality. But since you've given us nothing to work with, the best I can give you is a generic word... Salon. Good luck with that.

    =O

Thank you =]Jacqueline Renee' (The hair salon, in flushing michigan)?
im not sure but its really easy to do your own:

    what you need:

    some clear tape

    some black hairdye

    how to do it:

take a piece of hair you want to make the coontail in and straighten it. pin the rest back. make sure its all the same length and when your hair is just straightened as normal it is naturally all together and not just random little pieces all over the place.

then take a piece of tape 2-3 inches long, and put it on towards the top of the strip of hair. then fold the piece of tape over, so its wrapped around the hair. keep doing this. make sure the intervals between the tape are all even and the tape is tight around your hair.

mix your hairdye, put on your gloves, make sure the rest of your hair is all pinned/clipped back or else you will get spots of dye all over the parts where it touches later on.

next, put a pea sized amount of hairdye on your thumb and pointer finger, and rub them together so it doesn't drip off. then, starting at the highest stripe, put your two hairdye fingers on either side and rub them together on the first hair stripe. try to hold the taped part underneath the first stripe tight with your other two fingers on the other hand, because hairdye might seep into it while you are putting it on the hair right above the tape. make sure the hair is covered with hairdye, and then move down to the next stripe.

now you wait however long the hairdye you have takes to develop. when its done, wash it out. the tape comes right off in water.

sorry i couldnt really help. good luck : )

How do you bleach hair? Do you do it at home or go to a salon?

Which ones cheaper? Which ones more effective and will turn out better? If I could do it at home then what do i get?

thank you for you help! much appreciated %26lt;3How do you bleach hair? Do you do it at home or go to a salon?
if you are going to bleach your hair definitely go to the salon. especially if you have color in your hair you might end up with some crazy color from the bleach. How do you bleach hair? Do you do it at home or go to a salon?
well it really depends on what you want. do you want all of your hair bleached or just highlights? I personally recommend highlights because it looks more natural and you can go to wal-mart and buy a frost and glow kit. i think its made from revlon i'm not sure but it works really good and doesn't turn your hair orange. I use it all the time. and it only cost $6, now thats a lot cheaper than the salon which will probably be $50 or more. trust me the frost and glow kit works better than anything else, everything else that I tried turned my hair orange except for it. and I have dark brown hair.. just try it . you won't regret it. by the way you will have to have someone to pull your hair threw the cap, but its not hard. good luck
ALWAYS go to a salon, when you bleach your hair. It won't be more cheaper, But it defiently will be worth it. Bleach isn't something to play around with, and you can VERY easily overprocess your hair.
Go to a Salon. It is easier and will turn out better. I have a friend who did it at home, and wishes she went to have it done at a Salon.

  • For a hair stylist is it better to rent a chair or work for a salon?

i dont have tons of clients but i have quite a few names and now i am looking for a new job. i cant decide between going back to a salon or renting a chair. does anyone know anything about either that could help me out?For a hair stylist is it better to rent a chair or work for a salon?
Build your clientele first.! There are lots of costs that you don't think of with renting your chair. Rent, ALL your supplies, advertising/marketing, your state and federal taxes (including self employment and unemployment taxes). Not to mention the fees to the accountant and setting up a DBA, and things like that. And those are just off the top of my head. Your rent should be no more than 25% of your gross. Remember the weeks you are slower, you still need to put money aside for these things, pay your rent AND take care of your bills at home.

Once you become a renter, your salon is no longer responsible for feeding you clients or building your clientele, or supplying you with the names of the people who have come to see you. Your list is your sole responsiblity, as is any mailing and advertising you need to do to build.

I love the freedom and independence that comes with being a booth renter, but I still get nervous when it slows down. I feel like I make so much more money, but when you do the math, I only come out about 15% ahead of being an employee. That 15% is worth it to me. But without an active, regular clientele, there are too many worries.

Talk to people in your area who are renting, and people who are employees. Go to Nailpro.com or nailsmag.com. They have archived articles about booth renting that will apply to you as a hair stylist.

Good luck to you!For a hair stylist is it better to rent a chair or work for a salon?
If you do not have a major client list and clients that regualary come to you, then renting a booth space would not be good because you may not even make enough money to cover the booth rent. This actually happened to my sister-in-law. I would go to a salon and build a clientiel, then go back to renting booth space!
ONLY AND ONLY IF YOU HAVE CLIENTS THAT WILL COME AND GET THER HAIR DONE REGULARLY, THEN RENTING IS A GOOD IDEA. YOU MUST HAVE CLIENTS TO PAY THE BOOTH RENT.
I use to be a stylist and from experience is better to rent a chair and then do some work to increase your clientel lke pass out fliers and offcourse do a good job with their hair so they can bring referrals. Plus there is too much drama working for someone.
I think renting a chair is a very good idea, If your demand is only to pay your rent for the chair and other small regulations to follow i think it would be an awsome idea.
Wages aren't the greatest if you are actually working for the salon. Since you do have tons of clientelle, go ahead and rent the chair. You will come out ahead financially, and with a little planning on your part, you could put away some of that extra money and someday be the one who is renting out the chairs yourself.

Can you use store-bought hair dye over salon hair dye?

My hair is naturally med-dark brown. A couple of months ago I got hilights that ended up looking horrible. The salon had to go back and re-dye my hair a dark brown to cover them up, and then gave me some more natural looking hilights. 5 dollars. Use one dollar bills.A co-worker is cutting, and coloring my hair at her salon(2nd job). Ill get 30 % off. What % do I tip her?
It's polite to give people more tip than usual if they're doing you a favour like that, rather than less because you spent less money, so you should probably tip her whatever you'd have tipped for a full-price haircut. That way she doesn't personally lose out for giving you the discount!
I don't use the price to figure my tip at a salon. If she's getting you 30% off, give her what you would consider a good tip for the same job at full price. It would be kind of rude to cut her tip when she's doing you a favor.

Should I color my hair dark on my own and then go to the salon and get highlights?

I don't wanna spend that much money on my hair and I just want a cut and color. But as I see it does cost alot. So I was thinking bout dying my hair at home with dark brown hair dye and then going to the salon maybe the next day or after and asking for highlights. Is it a bad idea?Should I color my hair dark on my own and then go to the salon and get highlights?
no, I do this all the time. I keep my base shade of med. golden blonde and go to the salon for highlights and haircut. In between I touch up the roots only with my med. golden blonde. I usually go to the salon for highlights, three times a year. More visits for haircuts alone.

What natural things can help fix your hair instead of buying expensive salon shampoos?

    my hair is kind of dry and it is not easy to make it do what i want it to do, i need some natural ingredients to put in my hair so that i could look like hair from the comercials from ';Loreal';

what do i need to do?!What natural things can help fix your hair instead of buying expensive salon shampoos?
The mayo and olive oil answers are good. Why natural? Just because something is not ';natural'; doesn't make it unhealthy. Most of the time, I would say ';you get what you pay for';, meaning that I have found the salon brands are superior to the cheaper ones. That is true in general. However, I have found one cheaper one that is wonderful. Dove shampoo and conditioner makes your hair so soft. The Loreal nutrivive and hydravive (I think that's the name) are also good. It also helps if you get a cheap shower cap and put it on your head after you put the conditioner on and leave it a few minutes while you finish your shower. Also, after I rinse out the conditioner, I take a little bit of the conditioner and rub it through my hair like a leave-in conditioner. Just don't use too much or it will look greasy. What natural things can help fix your hair instead of buying expensive salon shampoos?
you can apply a small amount of mayonnaise to your hair- leave it in and sit in the sun for 30 minutes and rinse with cool water thoroughly then wash out with a gentle shampoo that has been diluted - 1 teaspoon to 1/2 cup water

or whip one egg white until it is frothy and apply to hair for 15 minutes and rinse out with cool water and then wash with a gentle shampoo that has been diluted one teaspoon to 1/2 cup water

you may have to travel into dc to get a really good salon. ask some girls that have nice hair where they go to. most places that specialize in ethnic hair advertise it. A panamanian lady did my hair once and it was incredible! not all salons know how to deal with all types of hair, so just be sure they know how you like your hair to be treated. also, just watch for a while and look at their clientele- do they look good when done, is the hair healthy, does the salon have lots of cutomers? if yes to thes, then they must be pretty good. i'm relly picky with my salons, so i feel the pain- just keep looking and asking! good luck.Dominican Salons (or any that Roller Sets hair)...in Northern VA?

If your under 16, I think most salons want a parent around but some salons will give you what you want without your parent around. You should ask the salon your interested.
Usually. It probably depends on the hair salon and how old you are.
Yeah. It's not a tattoo parlor. It's a hair salon.

How can my hair turn lighter without any chemicals and hair salon help....?

Some lemon juice will bring out your natural hightlights which will make your hair look lighter, worn out in the sun will lighten it. add some baking soda to your shampoo when you wash it, it will clean all the build up from your hair so the lemon juice can reach it. just don't put conditioner on it this time or styling products. How can my hair turn lighter without any chemicals and hair salon help....?
LEMON JUICE %26amp; SUNSHINE..but if you dont wanna do that, ive seen this stuff called lightener for hair...and its just like a spray you can put on ur hair b4 goin out in the sun tot he beach or somethin..but only look for tha stuff if u naturally have light brown/dirty blonde hair...ive heard it makes brunetts look a little orange..

good luck %26amp; have funHow can my hair turn lighter without any chemicals and hair salon help....?
Just being in the sun would make it turn lighter. Also, if you rinse with either lemon juice or vinegar diluted in water and then sit in the sun.
Sunshine and lots of it. Also, lemon juice, since you don't want to use chemicals. It won't be as dramatic an effect, but your hair will get lighter as time goes by. Just make sure you wear a good sunblock while out in the sun.
rinse your hair in lemon juice and go lay out in the sun. It will turn your hair lighter

Cheap haircut place/salon where i can get my hair dyed?

I just need a basic dye job, i'm perfectly aware that they may not do as good as a more expensive salon.

I'm looking for something like Great Clips, but great clips doesn't do color in most stores.

Anyone? Dont give me the name of a local place, i need a chain company. That wouldn't help me.Cheap haircut place/salon where i can get my hair dyed?
Go to the store (Wal-Mart, Walgreens) and get a $14 dye kit.

You could also get this for free if you call a local beauty school. Here's a link on how to get free haircuts (and dye I think):Cheap haircut place/salon where i can get my hair dyed?
Just dye it yourself : /

Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?

Nope, I've been seaching for one for a long time. Red is hardest color to keep.Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?
Red is the most difficult color to keep in your hair. It fades really easy and the upkeep is expensive and time consuming.

You can go to the beauty supply store and try to find some Manic Panic color or something extreme like that and maybe that will help, but from experience, the red doesn't stay!Does anybody know of a red hair dye (salon or drugstore brand) that does not fade quickly?
I really like wella hair color but if that's too expensive the revlon colorist auburns are really nice and feria has a nice line of reds too. I've been coloring my hair red for a very long time. John Freida has a nice not too expensive line of shampoo and conditioners just for red hair and sometimes I take my favorite conditioner and add a tiny bit of special effects red hair dye to it and use it as a color glaze every so often to keep my color maintained. I find the best way to keep red in is to put on a bit of mousse with sun screen on my hair before going out in the sun to protect the color and try not washing it everyday. If the John Freida shampoo and conditioner isn't for you at least use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair that will keep the color in. I hope I helped. Also, if your hair is dark make sure you lighten it a bit first so that the color holds better. Avoid doing this yourself at all costs because it can damage your hair a lot but if you must I reccomend going to a beauty store and getting a proffesional lightener or bleach there. Good luck. (:

Does anyone know any salons in Raleigh, NC for ethnic hair? ?

I usually go to this dominican salon, but i know that they focus more on the health of the hair vs the style. I just don't think the salon I go to could pull off the style I want (they might be able to, but I really don't wanna take that chance). I wanna cut my hair really short and add some color (like this http://www.universalsalons.com/styles.as鈥?/a> ) Does anyone know a salon in or near Raleigh that can do this?Does anyone know any salons in Raleigh, NC for ethnic hair? ?

[sorry if it's not the kind of salon you wanted]

I'm in search of a hair salon that serves black women with relaxed hair, but also cares about it being healthy

I live on the southside of Chicago, so anywhere in Chicago (no suburbs) would be okay.

I just want a salon that's not too expensive ($40-$65) for a relaxer with hairstylist that actually care about taking care of your hair. The people I go to now - Nefertiti's - are careless with the blowdryer and not that great with the relaxer.

Thank you - I'm new to this :-)I'm in search of a hair salon that serves black women with relaxed hair, but also cares about it being healthy
uh...im not farmiliar with chicago so idk google it maybe.

I'm opening a hair salon...any tips for a great one?

I just brought a hair salon, this is a new for me. What do you think makes a GREAT salon.

What about a catchy name?I'm opening a hair salon...any tips for a great one?
Well, owning a salon is hard work. so i suggest making the investment and spending as much as you can on it. You want to make an impression on your customers.

For starters, don't try to cram alot of stuff into your salon. I don't know how big your space is going to be, but the more you have in your space, the more junked up and messy it is going to look.

Next, make sure you have a nice color scheme. You don't want it to be TOO vibrant, but not dull either. I would recommend dark blues, light blues, browns, and white. You want colors that aren't too girly, like pinks or purples.

Something that really welcomes customers, is a sitting area. Most salons only have a row of about 5 or 6 plastic chairs in the front of the salon. Get nice comfortable chairs, that are appealing.

    http://s.sears.com/is/image/Sears/00895855000?qlt=90,0%26amp;resMode=sharp%26amp;op_usm=0.9,0.5,0,0

a chair like that is a good idea, its comfortable, yet very stylish.

If you have the money, an area with some water, coffee, and cookies is veryyy nice. If you offer a lot to the customers, they will offer more to you, making your business successful. People often bring children to get there hair cut, and the last thing parents want to do is sit there looking at outdated magazines salons have had for years.

Also, if you want. Make it more than just a salon, maybe expand your hair salon if it does well the first year, and offer a place for nails, or massages. A spa maybe.

Again, the more you offer, the more money you can charge, and the bigger you will get.

I know, some people can't afford these things. but this is what i suggest.

    a name i like, is

    Make The Cut.

haha. i know, corny, but catchy (:

hope this helped and gave you a few ideas.I'm opening a hair salon...any tips for a great one?
what makes a great salon is STAR QUALITY. make coming to your place an experiance, rather than a sort of task or hastle. make people feel waited on and pampered, like a celeb. small treats or fun drinks add to the atmophere.

i think a fun name would be something modern, like

    -BUTTER

    -THE HILLS

or use a person's name, like, sarah Jessica or something chic
What makes a great salon is people who know how to cut hair really good.
